Difference from FME Rec to FME Select

The FME Select Program gives players an opportunity to play at a more competitive level over the recreational program.

Key differences between the select and recreational programs

Competitiveness
Select players play at a higher level of competition

Team formation
Coaches and evaluators select which players can play on a team

Tryouts
Players must attend tryouts (held on multiple days) to be considered by coaches and evaluators to play on a team

Age levels
Select age levels only start at U11, with a development level for U10

Travel
Select teams typically travel farther to play in league games (due to competition levels)

Participation in tournaments
Select teams are required to play in tournaments at their own cost - recreational teams can play in jamborees/tournaments but aren't expected/required to.

Cost
Select program team fees are higher than recreational team fees due to additional fields, referee, and uniform costs. Teams are responsible for any additional fees.
