What is the FME Soccer Club?
A nonprofit organization, run by volunteers, to provide an opportunity for children to play soccer.  Fife-Milton-Edgewood (FME) Soccer Club is a member club of Tacoma Pierce County Youth Soccer Association (TPCJSA) which is a member association of Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WSYSA) which is a member of United States Soccer Federation (USSF) which is a member of Federation Internationale de Football (FIFA), the governing body for worldwide soccer.

What are Recreational teams?
Teams designed to play soccer for fun and open to children of all abilities.  Recreational teams include both Small Sided and Full-field team.  Recreational teams in TPCJSA are not allowed to select players on the basis of ability.  Instead players are allocated to teams by the Club Registrar.

What are Select teams?
Teams on which the coach may select the players based on ability through a tryout format.  This provides an opportunity for highly skilled, highly motivated players to play at a higher level of competition during a longer season.

Who has priority for placement on a team?

  • Small Sided Teams: New Small Sided teams are formed each year and players who register before the deadline will be placed on a team.
  • Full-field Teams: Returning players who register before the deadline have the highest priority for placement on their existing team.  New players will be placed on teams which have openings.  New teams will be formed if there are enough players and coaches. Occasionally we have to break up an existing team to be able to accommodate all players who are registered.  Recreational coaches have limited choice on the number of players on his or her team but is not allowed to select which players will be on the team.  Players who register late will be placed on a team only if space is available.

How can I help?
Volunteer to coach or referee. The number of children playing soccer is growing rapidly. New coaches and referees are in demand. We will provide training for coaches and referees.  Prior knowledge or expertise is not necessary.  FME is always looking for volunteers to help in many areas!
