Coaches Handbook

Coaches Handbook Information

Each year WSYSA prepares a comprehensive handbook to guide you in your coaching career.  This handbook can be downloaded from our web site using the link below.

2008-2009 Washington Youth Soccer Coach's Handbook (This is a big file... please be patient)

INFORMATION FOR FME COACHES

- If you have the home game please call the opposing team a week prior to the game to assure they have the correct time, location and a map/directions to your field. There is a copy of FME fields in your coach’s binder if you need to fax a copy. Field maps are at our web site under games/fields.

- Every child on rec/home teams MUST play 50% of the game.

- Coaches are not allowed to coach from the sideline within the 18 yard box.

- Every person/assist coach/parent who is actively working with your team MUST HAVE a completed/approved Risk Management Form on file and with them at all times.

- Your behavior will set the trend for the parents/players around you, make it something to be proud of.

- You are responsible for your behavior, your players’ behavior and your parents’ behavior. Please keep this in mind throughout the season. The referee will be penalizing you for their actions.

- Referees are players/members of your club - treat them with respect ! If you have an issue with a particular ref, please call the HOTLINE and voice your complaint,(620-4599) please do NOT take it out in an unsportsmanlike manner during/after the game.

- Each team in "Good Standing" is entitled to $250/season for tournament play.  For your team to receive this, you must turn in the Good Standings Checklist to the President, Vice President or Treasurer.  Please allow two weeks for approval.

- All team funds must be kept by and reported to the FME Treasurer.

- When practicing at game fields (Fife HS, Surprise Lake MS, Mtn. View and Edgemont Park) try to minimize the amount of time spent directly in front of the goals. This will help preserve the fields for the season, otherwise we may run into a muddy mess and cancelled games.

- Full Field Teams - remember to call in your wins and ties by 6:00 pm Sunday evening!

- Please carry your first aid kit with you to games/practices.

Replace the materials you use - ESPECIALLY the ice packs!!

Risk Management (RMA)

Washington State Patrol Forms

Coaches: WSYSA has implemented regulations and procedures to protect our children’s safety as it relates to youth soccer. Every board member at every level of WSYSA, all volunteers, employees, anyone who intends to be a coach, assistant coach, trainer, team manager, official or anyone who may be left alone with a youth must have a background check. This is mandatory for participation.

Risk Management Card renewal is available online.  Select the coach registration link or General Volunteers/Board Members link and log in using your family username and password and update your registration form information including RMA info, sign and resubmit. If you have previously registered this year as a coach in FME your card is expired use the General Volunteers/Board Members link to up date your card.  Be sure to use the same name exactly as it appears on your card.

It is important to have this written notification (RMA Card) with you at every soccer event.
